Observing local and foreign animals, petting and feeding them, learning something new, eating an ice cream and a portion of chips - children don't need much to have an exciting day. In Torgau and the surrounding area, five animal enclosures welcome curious visitors.
The privately run zoo gives its guests educational insights into the interesting and species-rich world of reptiles. A reptile show takes place several times a day, in which various reptile species are presented. The animal feedings are also an experience. The snake house is home to the five largest giant snake species in the world. The zoo is also home to crocodiles, geckos, lizards, agamas, insects, scorpions, frogs, turtles, newts and crabs.
There is a large playground with toys, table football and bouncy castles for younger visitors. Feeding is permitted in the petting zoo.

Grochwitzer Park, about 2 km as the crow flies from Herzberg Market, has been used as the site of a small animal park for almost 30 years. Initially conceived as a purely domestic animal park with deer, fallow deer and domestic animals, more and more exotic animals were added over the years. First raccoons, porcupines and dwarf zebu, later even white-handed gibbons. A new stable for ponies and donkeys was built, several brick outdoor enclosures for small mammals and the castle for rabbits and guinea pigs.

“Small but beautiful” is the motto of the Eilenburg zoo. 210 animals of 34 species have their home in the four-hectare green oasis in the middle of the city park.
In addition to the outdoor monkey enclosure, where toque monkeys can romp around, there are pigs, horses and donkeys to watch in the pet house and in the paddock.
A nature trail leads through wetlands and forest areas where cranes, lynx and fallow deer live.
