Elbe Cycle Path in Torgau
Our enchanting Renaissance town is located directly on the Elbe Cycle Path, one of the most varied cycle paths in Germany. Do you fancy an extended cycle tour during your stay in Torgau? Then take the opportunity to explore a small section of the 1,270 km long Elbe Cycle Path.
Our first tour suggestion takes you upstream to Belgern. The second recommended route, on the other hand, takes you downstream to Prettin.
On your return to Torgau, Hartenfels Castle awaits you with its imposing presence directly on the banks of the Elbe. Tour 1: Upstream to Belgern
Route length approx. 30 km
Route:
- Torgau – Loßwig – Bennewitz – Weßnig – Kranichau – Belgern and back
- or by ferry to Köllitzsch - (detour to Adelwitz possible) - Kathewitz -
Pülswerda - (detour to Triestewitz possible) - Graditz - Werdau - Torgau
Worth seeing:
- Bennewitz: Bicycle museum in the restaurant “Zur Schmiede”, farm dairy
- Weßnig: Church for cyclists
- Belgern: Renaissance town hall with 6-metre sandstone Roland, town museum, St. Bartholomew's Church from 1552
- Adelwitz: manor with castle and park
- Pülswerda: Castle (café and overnight accommodation), farmers' markets
- Triestewitz: Castle (Hotel Garni), church, park
- Graditz: Saxon state stud farm with park
- Werdau: Alter Elbehof (guesthouse, restaurant and beer garden)

Tour 2: Downstream to Prettin
Route length approx. 35 km
Route:
- Torgau – Repitz – Döbern – Drebligar – Dommitzsch and back
- or by ferry to Prettin – Labrun – Großtreben – Last – Neubleesern – Rosenfeld – Zwethau – Kreisau – Torgau
Worth seeing:
- Dommitzsch: Goose Fountain and City Museum
- Prettin: Lichtenburg Castle – Renaissance monument with museum, town church from the 14th century.
- Last: Castle built in 1848 in Romanesque-historical style
- Zwethau: Manor of the Three-sided courtyard Hotel “Wenzels Hof”
