Historically valuable exhibits in the historic Chancellery building
Since 2005, the faithfully restored building of the former Electoral Chancellery has presented an exhibition of historically valuable exhibits, inviting visitors to a unique encounter with Torgau's history and culture. The former farmyard of the Cistercian monastery became the property of the sovereign at the beginning of the 16th century. Elector Johann Friedrich established the chancellery here around 1533, laying the foundation for a modern Saxon administration and for the use of the Electoral Saxon chancellery language in Central Germany.
