Johann Friedrich der Großmütige – The Last Ernestine Elector
The permanent exhibition in the Electoral Chambers of Hartenfels Castle highlights the importance of Torgau as a center of power during the Reformation and as a place of courtly representation of European stature, offering a museum experience of outstanding quality. The exhibition focuses on Elector John Frederick the Magnanimous and his wife, Sibylle of Cleves. The last Ernestine Elector resided in Torgau from 1532 to 1547 and is considered a pioneer of Martin Luther's teachings in his time.
