Genuine sandstone works by 16th-century masters
In the Lower Court Room, the oldest part of the castle with its unique medieval architecture, and in the impressive vaulted ceiling beneath the castle church, visitors experience an interesting journey into the castle's architectural history. The Lapidarium (Latin for "stone collection") displays "stone witnesses" that tell the story of the castle. Over the centuries, many of these often grotesque-looking sandstone works have weathered away. Removed from their original location in the castle and replaced with copies, the objects in the Lapidarium now bear witness to the former splendor of the former residence.
