In the mayor's living room, 40 angels look out at the tourists
The Torgau Museum Trail offers visitors the opportunity to experience history firsthand while strolling through the city, visiting selected historically significant buildings. Behind the simple facade of this stately town house lie ceiling and wall paintings of the highest quality from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The main hall on the first floor impresses with its painted wooden beam ceiling, depicting 40 angels. Hartenfels Castle was also once mentioned as having an "Angels' Room," but this no longer exists. With this unique interior decoration, the building is the most significant Renaissance town house in Central Germany in terms of art and cultural history.
