Discover one of the most beautiful Renaissance towns in Germany and visit the Gorrenberg, whose wine was already prized by the electors.
Today, the wine from the Hanke winery is part of the regular range in the Torgau store in our tourist information office. After the lunch break, head to our neighbors in Jessen and taste up to four wines in the cozy tasting and wine bar. This is accompanied by a hearty winegrower's meal and lots of information about winegrowing:
As early as the 13th century, the Antonite monks, favored by the mild climate, appreciated wine growing on the Gorrenberg. The region experienced its heyday in the 15th and 16th centuries with a cultivation area of around 300 hectares. Today, the Hanke family cultivates around 16 hectares. The family's knowledge, which dates back to the 18th century, is a great help. With seven white and five red grape varieties, a large selection of the most popular German wines is on offer.
Before heading home, you can purchase a fine drop or other souvenirs in the farm store.
