A former brewery with an impressive cellar
The stately Renaissance town house, with its unique brewery and malthouse, impressively documents the importance of Torgau's brewing tradition in the 15th and 16th centuries.
The spacious rock and sandstone cellars, in particular, illustrate the quantities of beer brewed and stored. They also reveal something of the esteem in which the once famous "Torgisch Beer," praised even by Martin Luther, enjoyed.
