A Matter of Buttons – Special exhibition in Torgau

Buttons as art? The new special exhibition ‘(R)eine K(n)opfsache’ shows just how versatile this small everyday object can be. Since 2010, Upper Lusatian artist Michael Voigt has been creating impressive works from buttons – ranging from portraits and landscapes to animal and plant motifs.

Alongside his creative works, his extensive button collection is also on display. It spans from the Middle Ages to the present day and showcases the great variety of shapes, materials and countries of origin.

The exhibition is complemented by fascinating insights into the history and manufacture of buttons, as well as special favourite pieces from Torgau.
