Since the first documented mention of Graditz as a place of horse breeding in 1630, the location has always been inextricably linked with horses. Since 1992, Graditz has been united as the main stud farm together with the Moritzburg State Stud Farm under the umbrella of the Saxon Stud Farm Administration (SGV) as a commercial enterprise of the Free State of Saxony. The facility is still considered one of the most beautiful stud farms in Europe.
The permanent exhibition in the former Graditz Stud Museum, which was redesigned in 2022, focuses on the centuries-long horse breeding tradition at Graditz as well as the implementation of contemporary requirements for modern horse breeding, keeping and training at the SGV. Part of the exhibition is aimed specifically at children and younger visitors.
